BYD Shark 6 Service Schedule & Costs — Australia
PHEV-ute regime: a first check at 6 months or 3,500 km (HEV Trip), whichever comes first, then annual. Twelve entries to 220,000 km; the eleven priced services total $6,077 — and its two heaviest scheduled services are $923 at year 4 and $1,423 at year 8. One section, two editions: BYD Australia’s warranty booklet stamped 202504 lists the plug-in hybrid’s first service as “6 months / 3,500 km (HEV TRIP)” under “Complimentary maintenance period (whichever comes first)”, to be completed within that period from the date of delivery, by Authorised BYD Service Centres, and says the entitlement is “automatically forfeited” if it is missed. The booklet stamped 202509 titles the same section Initial Run-In Maintenance (PHEV Only), recommends “an initial service at six months or 3,500 km (HEV Trip)” and says nothing about its cost, while its own contents page still lists the section as Initial Complimentary Maintenance. So we do not print the check as free today, and we do not tell you an older car’s entitlement was withdrawn. Ask your service centre to confirm the cost in writing before you book. The first check’s cost label and its distance qualifier were corrected on 13 October 2026.

Service data from BYD’s authorised Australian dealer network’s published tables (retrieved 21 August 2026) and BYD’s official program announcements as covered by multiple independent outlets. The first check’s timing, its complimentary wording and that wording’s absence from the same section of the 202509 edition, from BYD Australia’s Warranty and Service Handbook, editions stamped 202504 and 202509 (both retrieved 2 September 2026). Warranty: 6 years/150,000 km vehicle · 8 years/160,000 km traction battery. Running-cost estimates: Australian Government Green Vehicle Guide (our last review of the guide’s figures: 11 October 2026; the guide’s annual cost assumes 14,000 km/year and is based on “average retail fuel prices for the last quarter” for fuel and on “the latest average residential electricity prices” for electricity). Totals are our arithmetic.
What the table teaches
- $1,423 at year 8 — the heaviest item in this table, landing on the battery-warranty boundary. A used Shark near 160,000 km carries it or shows its invoice.
- Tow, load, or gravel? BYD’s severe-condition provisions add cost beyond this table — ask the service point, not the brochure.
- Fuel and charging: $1,631/year for the 2024 Shark 6, $1,613 for the 2026 Premium and $1,762 for the 2026 Performance 2.0T on government figures — the Green Vehicle Guide’s annual running cost for a plug-in hybrid on 95 RON, not a charging-only cost. The guide labels the 2026 rows WLTP (4-Phase) and names no cycle for the 2024 row, so the years are not measured like for like.
- Never plugged in? Every Shark 6 row we took from the Green Vehicle Guide carries an electricity figure alongside its petrol figure, so a ute that never sees a charger is not the vehicle those annual running costs describe. The schedule is indifferent either way: not plugging in does not move a single price in this table, the $923 and the $1,423 included.
