MG ZS EV (2019–2021) Fluids & Capacities

MG ZS EV guides: Overview Oil & fluids Problems Recalls (MG)
✓ Technically reviewed by Daniel Wei Chen — Senior Chinese Automotive Diagnostics & Repair Specialist, Sydney · 24 October 2026

No engine oil — but the ZS EV still has five fluids that matter, and two of them are separate coolant circuits people routinely confuse: 4.8 litres for the power electronics and drive motor, and 4.4 litres for the high-voltage battery pack. All figures below are from the official owner’s manual (the launch manual, which prints no edition, Technical Data p. 316; the Australian manual’s battery-pack coolant figure is given beside it).

The full table

Correction note: The battery-pack coolant row gave one figure from a manual it labelled MY19, an edition that manual does not print; it now names that manual as the launch manual and gives the Australian manual’s figure beside it.
High-voltage boundary — read this. The battery-pack coolant circuit is part of the high-voltage system. Checking its level visually is fine; opening, draining or refilling it is not a DIY job and this site will never publish procedures for it — it requires an EV-qualified technician with the right isolation equipment. The same applies to anything behind orange connectors.

What owners can sensibly check

Facelift cars (2021–2024)

This page covers the 44.5 kWh launch version, from its own manual. The facelift (51.1 / 72.6 kWh) has differences in the cooling system — we will publish its figures from the corresponding manual rather than assume carry-over. Don’t apply this table to a facelift car.
