Deepal S07 — Owner's Guide
The S07 is the mid-size electric SUV that launched Deepal in Australia. The headline reads well: 7 years / 160,000 km on the vehicle, 8 years / 240,000 km on the HV battery. The fine print is what this page is for: commercial use — the handbook’s list runs to “tool of trade” — cuts cover to 1 year / 120,000 km; the drive system’s cap stops 90,000 km before the battery’s; and the battery text prints no capacity floor. Recalls for the S07 to date: none found.

Does using it for work void the seven years? (the tool-of-trade trap)
The handbook’s commercial list is printed, not implied: taxi, hire, rental, driving school, delivery/courier, tool of trade. Any of those, and warranty cover is 1 year / 120,000 km — not seven years. “Tool of trade” is the widest net in that list: a car that exists because your work requires it. If your S07 will earn its keep, get the dealer’s reading of that clause, against your actual use, in writing before you sign.
How well is the battery really covered? (the powertrain split and the missing floor)
The 240,000 km battery figure is genuinely long — but it travels alone. The Electric Drive System and Vehicle Controller are capped at 8 years / 150,000 km: 90,000 km short of the battery’s cap, and 10,000 km short of the vehicle warranty itself. One drivetrain, two finish lines.
Then the floor that isn’t there: the text excludes capacity fade as normal wear and prints no state-of-health percentage. Changan’s UK consumer site — which sells the S07 there — prints a ≥70% state-of-health condition in its battery warranty. Two markets, two levels of transparency. Without a number, a degradation claim in Australia is an argument, not a measurement.
The warranty also requires periodic battery health checks. Those are dealer diagnostics — high-voltage checks an owner can safely perform at home: none. Keep every check booked and stamped; that trail is your claim evidence. Miss one and you’ve handed the network an argument. Don’t.
What else hides in the small print?
- 12V battery: 1 year / 20,000 km — the same short-12V pattern we’ve documented in BYD’s warranty texts.
- The odometer clause: a tampered or altered odometer that makes it impossible to verify whether the car has passed 150,000 km renders the warranty expired. Buying used? Check the service trail matches the mileage.
- Roadside assistance runs 12 months, complimentary (1800 020 371) — while the warranty runs seven years. After year one, roadside is your own arrangement.
