GWM Haval H6 guides: Overview Service schedule Running costs Problems Recalls (GWM)

Like its smaller sibling, the H6 appears in none of the six Australian recalls our GWM tracker listed as of 26 September 2026 — and it shares the same centre of gravity: the 7-speed DCT, which dislikes stop-and-go traffic most of all. Unverified owner report: our research notes recorded the reports on 21 August 2026 and attribute them to owners and reviews without naming a source; we have not verified the reports. Reported symptoms run from clunky, jerky low-speed behaviour and hesitation on gentle throttle to overheating in heavy traffic and, in developed cases, grinding or whining noises. Our notes give a repair fork: software updates fix many; some need clutch replacement — which side of that fork a used car sits on is knowable, by VIN, before you buy.

The DCT pattern, in practical terms

Beyond the gearbox

Unverified owner report: from the Jolion research our notes recorded on 21 August 2026, which names no source; we have not verified the report. The secondary reports mirror the Jolion’s: infotainment freezes and occasional electrical gremlins. Nothing in the record points at the engines, brakes or hybrid systems — and the recall picture agrees: every GWM recall we track in Australia sits in the ute/off-road family, the new H7 or the 2023 Ora — none on the H6.

Buying used — 5-minute checklist

Pattern sources: multi-market owner aggregations and mechanic reporting; Australian owner reviews; South African trade data; symptoms triangulated across independent sources. Compiled from recurring reports — individual posts are not republished.

Correction note: The gearbox patterns on this page, and its comparison of other reports with the Jolion’s, are now labelled as unverified owner reports. This page used to say that GWM’s four Australian recalls all sit in the ute/off-road family and the H7, which left out the Ora’s recall REC-005843.
