GWM Haval H6 guides: Overview Service schedule Running costs Problems Recalls (GWM)

Same GWM pattern: first service 12 months/10,000 km, then every 15,000 km; five capped services. On the GEN3 sheets and the H6 GT petrol sheets, the warranty start date (GWM’s “Customer Year”) sets the price tier. The H6’s own story is the GEN3 4WD premium with a paper trail: identical prices until service 3, then the GEN3 4WD pays ~$100 more at services 3 and 4 — and the official item schedule shows exactly why: transfer-case and rear-differential oils first changed at 36 months/40,000 km, torque-transfer-device oil at 48 months.

⚠ The program-voiding window — H6 numbers, not every GWM’s: present within 1 month/2,000 km before to 3 months/3,000 km after each interval — or lose capped pricing permanently. GWM’s sheet prints that window for the Jolion, Cannon 2.0L, H6 (including GT) and Ora; the Cannon 2.4T, Cannon Alpha, Tank 300 and Tank 500 sit in a second row with a different window. Don’t carry these numbers to one of those.

Prices AUD from GWM Australia’s official CPS document (archived 20 August 2026, sha256 on record); totals are our arithmetic. The warranty start date matters: the same GEN3 4WD costs $1,760 or $2,060 over five services depending on whether its warranty started in 2024 or earlier, or in 2025 or later.

Condensed from the official H6 GT and New H6 (2025) CPS sheets (archived; full per-service tables in the documents). Where a GT cell shows two figures joined by “or”, they are two Customer-Year prices, not a price range — and the condensed form does not record which year carries which, so we don’t say. The GT Petrol sheet in fact prints three Customer-Year columns for 4x2 and 4x4 — the two figures we show are its earliest and latest years, and we do not publish the middle (2025) one; the GT PHEV sheet prints two, so that row is complete. The New H6 sheet is a different case: it prints one set of prices with no Customer-Year column at all, and a 2WD petrol column with no 4WD counterpart — so no Customer Year is implied for the three New H6 rows above, even though the same sheet’s header says pricing is determined by the warranty start date (Customer Year). Header and table contradict each other; we follow the table and name the conflict rather than settle it. Every figure on that sheet carries an asterisk GWM defines as “Maximum payable for standard scheduled servicing (normal operating conditions)”: a ceiling, not a fixed quote, which makes the New H6 totals ceilings too. We have since read the older H6 and H6 GT sheets: both print the same footnote, and every price in the “Capped prices” table further up carries the asterisk — so those totals are ceilings as well. The GT PHEV’s year-4 service ($705 or $710) is its big one; the New H6 PHEV spreads costs into year 5 instead.

Why the GEN3 4WD costs more — the official item list

GEN3 4WD-only itemOfficial rhythm
Transfer-case oilFirst at 36 mo / 40,000 km, then every 36 mo / 45,000 km
Rear differential oilSame rhythm as transfer case
Torque-transfer device oilFirst at 48 mo / 55,000 km, then every 48 mo / 60,000 km

Plus the range-wide items: oil/filter every service, plugs three times, ATF (or DHT oil on HEV) from 55,000 km, coolant twice, brake fluid three times, HEV battery SOH checks every visit — the full 120-month table is in the archived official document. Buying a used GEN3 4WD near 40,000 or 55,000 km? Those oil changes are either just-done (ask for proof) or your bill. Don’t carry this list to a New H6 (2025). That car’s HEV and PHEV schedules print a different AWD-only set — DHT transmission filter and rear differential oil, plus a high- and low-temperature coolant overflow tank on the HEV — and there the 4WD is not uniformly dearer: on the HEV it costs more at services 2 and 4 and less at service 3.

Correction note: We corrected what sets the service price tier: not the first registration date, but the warranty start date, which GWM calls the “Customer Year”. GWM’s terms do mention first registration: the price that applies is the one current when the car was first registered. That is how the registration date in the disclaimer at the foot of this page bears on the price. See our corrections log.
