The Jolion HEV makes one of the strongest hybrid cases we’ve documented: 5.0–5.1 L/100km official versus 7.5–8.1 for the petrol — and government urban figures as low as 3.0 — and the Green Vehicle Guide lists cheap 91 RON for both HEV entries. One catch hides in the petrol range: the Green Vehicle Guide lists 95 RON in its engine description for the 130 kW version, and 91 for the base petrol — a split inside one badge. Those are the register’s listings, not a GWM fuel instruction: check the grade for your car in its handbook, or have a GWM dealer confirm it in writing. Servicing runs $1,430–$2,075 over five capped services depending on version, warranty start date and build date.
Fuel — official government figures
| Version | Fuel | Official combined | Urban | Fuel per 15,000 km/yr | GVG annual cost |
| HEV (2022 sheet) | 91 RON | 5.0 | 3.0 | ≈ 750 L | $1,295 |
| New HEV (2024+) | 91 RON | 5.1 | 3.7 | ≈ 765 L | $1,321 |
| 1.5T petrol (2021 sheet) | 91 RON | 8.1 | 10.4 | ≈ 1,215 L | $2,098 |
| 1.5T petrol 130 kW | 95 RON | 7.5 | 9.7 | ≈ 1,125 L | $2,110 |
Australian Government Green Vehicle Guide (our last review of the guide’s figures: 11 October 2026; the guide’s annual cost assumes 14,000 km/year and is based on “average retail fuel prices for the last quarter” for fuel and on “the latest average residential electricity prices” for electricity) and GWM’s official CPS documents (archived). Litres/kWh per year are our arithmetic at 15,000 km/year. Several GWM entries are NEDC-cycle — we flag them; NEDC flatters range and consumption.
The hybrid math: $777–$815/year less fuel on government figures (across the two HEV and two petrol entries in the fuel table), against $100–$195 more in servicing over five years than the petrol Jolion (Premium and Lux), depending on the price tier (
CY-tier tables here) — the HEV wins the running-cost race decisively, and city drivers win twice (3.0 vs 10.4 urban). Just don’t miss the
program window — voiding capped pricing would erase these margins fast.
Servicing recap
Five capped services to 70,000 km: petrol $1,550–$1,880, HEV $1,650–$2,075, S/Ultra $1,430–$1,760 — all set by warranty start date (GWM’s “Customer Year”) or build date; full tables on the schedule page.
Correction note: We corrected what sets the service price tier: not the first registration date, but the warranty start date, which GWM calls the “Customer Year”, and for the third tier the build date. GWM’s T&Cs do mention registration: the price that applies is “the Service Price that was current at the time when the Vehicle was first registered” (clause 9). That is how the registration date in the disclaimer at the foot of this page bears on the price. We have also stopped describing the 130 kW petrol’s 95 RON as a requirement: it is the Green Vehicle Guide’s listing, not a GWM instruction. And we corrected the hybrid’s extra servicing cost, which we had given as “≈$100–180”: against the petrol Jolion (Premium and Lux), GWM’s capped prices make it $100–$195, depending on the price tier. See our
corrections log.
